Our availability calendar highlights all possible flight dates at the lowest price for trips up to 28 days. It will forward you to Ethiopian Airlines with your selected flight dates.

The flights are via Addis Ababa. Ethiopian Airlines serves Europe with its Boeing 787, Boeing 777, and Airbus A350, usually featuring a 2-2-2 or 2-3-2 seating configuration in business class class, except for some A350s that have a 1-2-1 alignment. Most flights to Johannesburg are operated with wide-body aircraft, but you may also find yourself on one of the flights operated with their Boeing 737 MAX, which has a 2-2 seating configuration with recliner seats.
Editor’s Note: Personally, I’m no fan of Ethiopian Airlines (though readers in the comments beg to differ). However, the price is really good – especially from Scandinavia – and the number of possible departure points is also a big plus of this offer.

Information & Tips for Johannesburg
Johannesburg is known for its role in South Africa’s history, with key sights like the Apartheid Museum, Constitution Hill, and Soweto’s Vilakazi Street. The local currency is the South African rand (ZAR), and most places accept cards, though cash can be useful in smaller shops and markets. Prices are generally affordable compared to global standards. The city has a mild, high-altitude climate—summers (October to March) are warm with afternoon thunderstorms, while winters are dry and sunny with cool nights.

Fyi Ethiopian have at least 66 long haul planes (A350, B787 & B777). Picture showed on your deal is the business class of B777. this product is indeed old and they have only 11 of those types in their long haul fleet. So this does not represent the majority. Except some A350 ( which have 1-2-1) most of their fleet have a decent 2-2-2 seating arrangement.
if you look a couple of trip report you will see that most of the Travellers are happy with the service versus price ☺️😉.
Ok it is not Singapore airlines or any middle east airlines. Nevertheless when you need to fly from Europe to Africa, they are the best and do their job.
2-2-2 isn’t a decent business class. I have no urge to be lying next to a guy farting away the trip.
Yes Mike, as said they do not compare to some Asian or Middle East airlines, nevertheless the picture on the deal do not represent what they are now (picture looks like from the 90’s 🤣). but to fly to and within Africa, they are the best.
Also I’m using a lot of Miles and More points and regarding they surcharges fee, nothing can beat them ( for example BRU to ADD with Lufthansa 75k Miles + 600€ versus Ethiopian 75k miles +80€).

2-3-2 business seating, maybe on a Max in Africa… Where do I sign up?
Wow, Ditmar… you “only know one person who’s flown with them and they weren’t particularly satisfied” — and that is the reason for you to mention that you are “no fan of Ethiopian”…? It’s good to know how to evaluate the statements made by the authors on this website…
Honestly, the Ethiopian business class reviews on other sites are not exactly saying that it’s an outstanding product. Add to that, that the only personal experience I’ve heard from someone was negative. Overall, it’s enough for me to “not be a fan”. I’m not saying that I hate it, nor am I telling people not to book it – on the contrary, I decided to publish the deal, which in itself is a recommendation to book. But I don’t have to pretend that Ethiopian business class is something that makes me go “wow, so cool”, like some other airlines do. Doesn’t mean it’s bad.
Hi,
Do not understand why you’re not fan of Ethiopian airlines. I fly with them the last 5 years from Europ to a lot of country in Africa.. Price, service and comfort were always top.
That’s great to hear! I only know one person who’s flown with them and they weren’t particularly satisfied, so that got stuck in my mind. Glad to hear that they’re actually good.
